After the disappointing 4-2 defeat at the hands of Barcelona in the Champions League at Wembley last night, some of the Tottenham Hotspur players have taken to Twitter.
Harry Kane, Kieran Trippier, Toby Alderweireld and Erik Lamela all posted messages via their accounts after the match. It’s a shame that more of the players didn’t at least thank the fans for the atmosphere they created at our temporary home.
Spurs keeper Hugo Lloris, back from injury, gifted Philippe Coutinho Barcelona’s opener inside two minutes of the game and it was an uphill task after such an early mistake.
Harry Kane and Erik Lamela both found the net, but it was Lionel Messi who stole the headlines with a stunning performance which he capped off with two second half goals.
Here’s what the players had to say.
Disappointed with the result but proud of the fight and the way we kept going. We'll learn from it. Big games against PSV now in the group. #COYS #THFC #UCL pic.twitter.com/vglBRMzMHE
