How Spurs must use Llorente against Fulham

Tottenham Hotspur take on Fulham this evening, their first Premier League game since the defeat to Manchester United last Sunday.

Spurs lost this game 1-0, but they suffered a greater loss in Harry Kane during this fixture.

Pochettino’s main man picked up yet another ankle injury, a problem that will likely have him on the side lines until early March.

As a result, Poch must turn elsewhere for his goals for the next month, but unfortunately, his options are pretty bare.

Heung Min Son is still away on international duty, and Moura nursing an injury of his own.

We believe that Pochettino will therefore name Fernando Llorente as the lone striker against Fulham, and Tottenham must build the team around the tall Spaniard.

A big threat in the air, Poch should move to a back five to make the most of Llorente’s qualities, shifting the full backs forward.

This will also give Spurs a chance to pack the midfield and run the show possession wise, giving them various direct avenues of attack.

Balls down the channels and crosses into Llorente, or inter play between the likes of Dele and Eriksen to carve through the middle.

Poch must use Llorente’s height and play to his advantages, rather than treating him as if he were the same style of player as Kane.
