The 5-0 thrashing of Red Star Belgrade was just what the doctor ordered for Spurs on Tuesday evening in the Champions League.
The result will not only help restore some of the players’ lost confidence but also puts them in a much better position to qualify from their group.
There were some brilliant performances all over the pitch for Mauricio Pochettino’s side, with Harry Kane and Son Heung-min both looking threatening all game and managing net a brace.
One of Spurs’ best players on the night was summer signing Tanguy Ndombele, who was bought back in after being named among the substitutes for the draw against Watford on Saturday.
The Frenchman produced a fantastic display which included two assists, completed 91% of his passes and also won 75% of the tackles which he attempted (WhoScored.com).
Ndombele showed his quality in both winning possession back as well as his ability to drive forward with the ball and pick out key passes.
Some Spurs fans on social media were delighted with the 22-year-old’s display against the Serbian opposition.
Tanguy Ndombele, running the midfield again. Masterclasses are becoming the norm now. What a signing.

What a tremendous signing Tanguy Ndombele is for Tottenham Hotspur, the player was born to play in the Champions League.
Incredible to think he’s just 22 years of age, he has his peak period to come at Spurs, already showing just what a phenomenal player he is.#THFC #COYS #UCL pic.twitter.com/QJDHWfonzm

Tanguy Ndombele is genuinely one of our top 5 players already and is only 22!
How the hell did we sign him ?
Won’t be surprised if Madrid come calling in a few years— ? (@AdamCOYS) October 23, 2019

Poch has to get back to basics now. Kane, Dele and Son must play every single game together. Also Tanguy Ndombele is an absolute player. Gets the ball, doesn’t dwell and passes forward. Not quite at the pace or fitness required but you can see the player in him from a mile away.

Spurs Web Opinion
For a young player coming from France, Tanguy Ndombele has settled into life at Spurs rather quickly and his quality has been there for all to see. I believe he has the potential to be a great player for the side for years to come. Hopefully, Lo Celso also gets a run in the side and soon shows what he is capable of.
