‘How the mighty have fallen’ – Some Spurs fans react to latest Eriksen rumours

Some Spurs fans are in disbelief at how far Christian Eriksen’s stock has fallen after the former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder was linked with a move to West Ham United.

Eriksen left Spurs in January to join Inter Milan, with just six months remaining on his contract in North London.

However, Eriksen’s last 12 months in Italy have been a bit of a nightmare as the midfielder has failed to get a consistent run in the Inter side and continues to be overlooked by Antonio Conte despite the Nerrazuri’s struggles this season.

Inter chief executive, Giuseppe Marotta admitted last month that the midfielder is not in Antonio Conte’s plans and could ask to leave the club in January (Sky Italia via Sky Sports).

EuroSport reported earlier this week that West Ham could be set to make a shock move for Eriksen, with David Moyes said to be keen on bolstering his options in midfield next month.

While some Spurs fans were sad to see the 28-year-old’s career headed in a downward trajectory, others saw the funny side of it, insisting that Eriksen deserved it for pushing to leave Tottenham.

  1. Whilst many Spurs fans seem content to gloat at Christian Eriksen’s present misfortune it saddens me to think how people can be so cold and cruel. Given the amount of decent service he gave as a Spurs player I think it is poor form to sneer and criticise him just because he wanted to try something new, and sadly for him it hasn’t quite worked out in the way he wanted. I don’t think Mourinho would actually have him back now, and if West Ham make an offer and he responds then personally I wish him well and hope that it resurrects the career of a highly talent and enjoyable player to watch.
