Tottenham Hotspur travel to Spain this week as they prepare for their Champions League round of 16 clash with Atletico Madrid. Here’s how to watch the clash between Spurs and Atleti on Tuesday.

Tottenham Hotspur have struggled for form in the Premier League and currently run the risk of getting relegated.

However, in Europe things have looked more positive, with Spurs having managed a top-eight finish in the Champions League league phase and now set to play the first leg of their round of 16 encounter.

Atletico Madrid have since been named as Spurs’ last-16 opponent – a side with great European pedigree, making the task all the more tricky.

When and where Atletico Madrid vs Tottenham takes place

Tottenham will take on Atletico Madrid on Tuesday, 10 March 2026 at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium, with kick-off scheduled for 20:00 (UK time).

How to watch on TV

Supporters in the United Kingdom can watch Atletico Madrid vs Tottenham live on TNT Sports 1 and TNT Sports 3.

Team news ahead of round of 16 first leg tie

Coming into this clash, Atletico Madrid will be without Rodrigo Mendoza, who is sidelined with a sprained ankle. However, Diego Simeone has been handed a boost ahead of the clash with Pablo Barrios fit and available.

For Spurs, both Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero are back in contention. Van de Ven’s suspension applies to the Premier League, while Romero completed his domestic suspension last time out against Crystal Palace. Djed Spence could also return for the trip to Madrid.

Tottenham will, however, remain without several players through injury, including James Maddison (cruciate ligament), Dejan Kulusevski (knee), Ben Davies (ankle), Destiny Udogie (muscle), Lucas Bergvall (leg), Rodrigo Bentancur (hamstring), Mohammed Kudus (muscle) and Wilson Odobert (cruciate ligament), who is out for the season.

Spurs must avoid a heavy defeat against Atletico

This is a crucial game for Spurs, who are in desperate need of a win given their struggles thus far in 2026.

A clash against Atletico Madrid in a different competition could be just what Tottenham need, as a victory could do well for their confidence at this business end of the season.

These two sides have rarely met, but the one time they did, it was Tottenham who came out on top, beating Atletico Madrid 5-1 in the 1963 UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup final.

It is a two-legged tie, and Tottenham must keep themselves in the contest ahead of the return leg at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Score prediction: Atletico Madrid 2-1 Tottenham
