How Tottenham’s Kane, Son, and Lloris voted in the FIFA Football Awards 2022

The recent voting for the FIFA Football Awards for 2022 has been announced, and we can now reveal who Tottenham Hotspur stars Harry Kane, Hugo Lloris, and Heung-min Son opted for with their ballot.

Each year, football’s governing body allows national team captains and managers, as well as leading national media figures to vote in their annual awards to recognise the best players in the men’s and women’s game.

For 2022, the best men’s player in the world according to the votes was, rather unsurprisingly, Lionel Messi.

The accolade comes after Messi led Argentina to the World Cup, the first time he has lifted the coveted trophy in his glittering career.

French duo Kylian Mbappe and Karim Benzema came second and third respectively. Mbappe was instrumental in France’s run to the World Cup final, while Benzema enjoyed another successful season at club level with Real Madrid.

Now, with the winners announced, the voting of all those involved has been revealed. As the captains of England, France, and South Korea respectively, Kane, Lloris, and Son all got a vote in the awards.

Kane chose Messi as his number one pick, with former Liverpool attacker Sadio Mane in second, and Benzema coming in third place.

For Lloris, his international teammates Mbappe and Benzema took the top two spots in a show of patriotic loyalty.

Despite losing to Messi in the World Cup final, Lloris elected the legendary Argentine as his third choice.

Meanwhile, Son placed Messi in the top spot in his rankings. His second choice was Mbappe, followed by Benzema, meaning the South Korea star’s top three were exactly how the final results ended up.

Spurs Web Opinion

I don’t think you can argue with the top three being Messi, Mbappe, and Benzema. Kane’s pick of Sadio Mane is a bit of a surprising one, but you can see why he would choose him.

The only travesty here is the fact that Kane didn’t feature at all in the awards.
