Tom Huddlestone is optimistic about his future with Tottenham, having signed a new five-year deal at the club.

Huddlestone has become a key member of the Tottenham squad this season, helping the side an FA Cup run and a potential fourth place finish in the premier League.

And the midfielder is hopeful that he has signed on to the beginnings of a successful era for Spurs.

He told the Spurs official website, “If we keep making progress like we have done this season, then who knows what we may achieve over the next five years.

“The club’s had a good season so far and if we get back into Europe, I want to be part of that because we’ve missed it this season.

“On a personal level, I’m happy as long as I’m playing football and I’ve done that this season. That consistency has come with playing regularly and the team have had a consistent season overall so far – my own performances have coincided with that.

“I got in the side at the start of the season because JJ was injured to start with, but we won the first few games and the manager kept the team as it was. I’ve played well since then and he’s stuck with me.

“Now the contract is sorted I can concentrate on my football with no worries off the pitch.”

Huddlestone poured praise upon the squad which features a number of young players such as Aaron Lennon, Sebastian Bassong and Gareth Bale, all of who have become key members of the first-team.

“There are not many players in the squad over the age of 28 and throughout the squad the average age is quite young, especially with the likes of Gareth playing regularly.

“That bodes well for the next few years and have got the experience you need in there as well.”
