‘Huge career’ – Graham Roberts predicts bright future at Spurs for 23-year-old

Former Tottenham Hotspur defender Graham Roberts has taken to Twitter to claim that Cristian Romero has a huge career ahead of him with the north London club.

Romero recently returned from a long injury layoff and has slotted seamlessly back into Antonio Conte’s defensive back three.

The Argentine was partnered with Ben Davies and Eric Dier and the heart of the Spurs defence for yesterday’s Premier League clash at Manchester City and put in another impressive display to help his side to an impressive 3-2 victory.

Romero could have felt harshly done by when VAR recommended that referee Anthony Taylor pointed to the spot replays showing that Cristian Romero had handled an effort from Bernardo Silva which allowed City to level the game just before the 90th minute.

After Harry Kane had put the visitors back in front deep into injury time, the 23-year-old performed heroics at the other end when he made a vital 98th minute clearance from three yards out to protect his side’s lead.

Even during the defeats against Southampton and Wolves, Romero was head and shoulders above Davinson Sanchez and Ben Davies who were at fault for goals being conceded.

Romero and Dier had a solid game while Davies’ confidence levels seemed much higher playing alongside the pair.
