Hugo Lloris praises Man Utd star’s increased confidence

Hugo Lloris has praised his international teammate and Manchester United forward, Anthony Martial for the improvement he has shown over the last year.

The latest three episodes of Amazon’s fly on the wall documentary about Tottenham Hotspur’s season showed just how much of a leader Lloris is within the squad of the Premier League side.

The Frenchman does not necessarily come across as the loudest of characters but it was evident in the series that he is a highly respected voice in the dressing room.

The 33-year-old, who is also the long-serving captain of Les Blues, admitted that he is hoping that Martial can replicate his club form on the international scene.

Spurs were rumoured to be in the market for Martial two years ago, with the 24-year-old at one point allegedly coming close to a move to North London (Telegraph).

However, the former Monaco man has since added more consistency to his game and has become one of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s most important players.

When asked about the Man Utd man ahead of Didier Deschamps’ side’s Nations League encounter against Croatia, Lloris said (via Football.London): “I don’t know if it’s related to his relationship with Solskjaer, we can see he is more confident.

“There is a very good understanding with the players around him at Manchester United.

“He will be expected, he will have to confirm his good season.

“He is committed to doing well for five, 10 minutes, a half or a whole game.”
