Hugo Lloris provides response on his contract situation at Tottenham

Hugo Lloris has revealed that he is still yet to receive a new contract offer from Tottenham Hotspur.

The World Cup winner is out of contract at the end of the current campaign and would be free to agree a pre-contract deal with any interested overseas clubs during the January transfer window.

Lloris admitted towards the end of last month that there had been no dialogue between himself and the club over extending his stay in North London and stressed that he is comfortable with the situation (L’Equipe).

Alasdair Gold claimed earlier this month that Spurs would offer Lloris a new contract if the goalkeeper maintains the consistency he is showing at the moment (Football.London).

Lloris claims that his focus is fully on delivering silverware, something which has evaded him following his move from Lyon in 2012.

The 34-year-old told the Evening Standard: “There’s nothing from the club [about a contract],”

“It’s not a problem, I’m totally focused. We’ll see later about [that] but there’s no issue at all. We know each other very well.

“To win a trophy is what I’m working every day for, but who knows? When you look at the club today compared with in the past, the club is in a fantastic place. But also there’s a lot of clubs in the Premier League that are working well and improving every season and it makes the League so competitive.”

Lloris has been a brilliant servant for Tottenham and it would be madness if the club allowed him to walk away on a free transfer, given the experience he has within the dressing room at a time where the North Londoners are desperate for leaders within their ranks.
