Hugo Lloris reveals why he is confident Spurs have bright future under Postecolgou

Hugo Lloris has said that he is not concerned about some of the hiccups Tottenham Hotspur have had recently, insisting that his former club are heading in the right direction under Ange Postecoglou.

Lloris did not play a single game under Postecoglou, being relegated to third choice behind Guglielmo Vicario and Fraser Forster during the first half of the season.

However, the former Spurs captain, whose 11-and-a-half-year spell at the North London club came to an end in January when he joined Los Angeles FC, did have a chance to observe how the Australian coach works in close quarters.

The Frencham saw first-hand how the 58-year-old walked into the club at a tumultuous time last summer on the back of the failed Antonio Conte experiment and managed to quickly transform the mood at N17, despite the fact that the club lost Harry Kane.

Lloris thinks Ange Postecoglou is the man for the job

Lloris insisted that he fully believes in Postecoglou’s style of play and backed the Lilywhites to close the gap with the best sides in Europe over the next year or two.

The former Tottenham goalkeeper told BBC Sport. “I believe there is a good future at Spurs. They are building something important and there is a lot of credit to give to Ange, because as a coach to change the dynamic of a club in a short time is just a huge impact.

“I’m not worried about some results because at the end I believe in the way they play and believe in the players they have got in the squad and probably it can be a bright future.

“I wish them the best and to be in the Champions League next season and to reduce the gap to the best teams in the country and Europe.”

Spurs Web Opinion

The fact that the likes of Dier and Lloris, who did not get a look in under Postecoglou, speak in such glowing terms about the Australian and his work, is certainly a huge testament to the Tottenham head coach’s honesty, his man-management and a ringing endorsement of his methods.
