Hugo Lloris shares emotional farewell message to fans as Spurs exit is confirmed

Hugo Lloris will officially be leaving Tottenham Hotspur as his move to Los Angeles FC has been confirmed, and the former Spurs skipper has shared an emotional goodbye with fans on social media.

After 11 years in North London, Lloris will move on to pastures new with a transfer to MLS side Los Angeles FC on the horizon, as confirmed by the club just moments ago.

Since joining Spurs in 2012, Lloris went on to make 444 appearances for the club (Transfermarkt), and captained the side up until the summer when he was replaced by Heung-min Son.

Lloris endured a disappointing campaign last year, and his future at Spurs was all but ended by the arrival of new number one keeper, Guglielmo Vicario, this summer.

However, the Frenchman will be remembered fondly by fans of the Lilywhites, for leading the team through some of the most successful and enjoyable years in recent memory.

Lloris bids farewell to Tottenham

Upon the confirmation of his imminent exit, Lloris shared a message via the Spurs Twitter account, thanking the fans for their support over the last 11 years.

He said: “This is a personal message to all the Spurs fans. I just wanted to say thank you for your support since day one. It has been a great privilege to be one of yours, and your captain as well. 11 years, and I think it’s the end of a chapter, but you will always be in my heart.

“Spurs will always be a special place for me and my family, and on behalf of them as well I want to say thank you for all the memories that we had together, that we shared, all the emotions we went through. I want to wish you the best… because you deserve the best.”

Spurs Web Opinion

It is very sad to see Hugo leave, and it really does feel like the end of an era in many ways. He has been a magnificent servant to the club over the years and led us to some incredible highs as a football club. We wish him all the best in the USA, and will be watching Los Angeles FC very closely from now on.
