Hutton/Ferdinand swap back on?

Sunderland are planning to renew their interest in Alan Hutton in January and are also prepared to offer Anton Ferdinand as part of the deal.

The move had been mooted in the summer transfer window, but failed to materialise on transfer deadline day.

Steve Bruce is looking for further reinforcements in the full-back position with Phil Bardsley yet to impress as a Premiership player.

Hutton has been struggling for first-team football, with Vedran Corluka impressing at right-back this season.

Hutton would be interested in a move back north to be closer to his native Scotland and Sunderland could offer him a way out of Spurs.

Ferdinand has worked with Redknapp before at West Ham and is unhappy about the lack of first team football he has received this term.

Redknapp could be tempted to bring Ferdinand in, with doubts over the long-term fitness of Ledley King and Jonathan Woodgate, should Sunderland make the offer.
