‘I already feel at home’ – Radu Dragusin opens up on his start to life at Tottenham

Radu Dragusin has finally played his first set of substantial minutes for Tottenham Hotspur in the win over Aston Villa last weekend, and the defender has now discussed how happy he is to have joined the club.

Spurs bolstered their defensive ranks in the January transfer window with the £26.7m acquisition of Dragusin from Genoa. The move came after a transfer tussle between the Lilywhites and Bayern Munich, with the young defender opting to join Ange Postecoglou‘s side.

Dragusin has had to bide his time, though, with the partnership of Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven proving to be almost unbreakable.

Before last weekend, the Romanian had played just eight minutes of football for Spurs, across three brief substitute appearances. However, with van de Ven suffering an injury early in the second half at the weekend, Dragusin was given his first real taste of action for Spurs.

Radu Dragusin is very happy at Spurs

With 41 minutes under his belt in that win, and praise coming from all sides for his performance, the man himself has spoken to the club’s website about how he has found the adjustment period at Spurs, and given his thoughts on that game against Villa.

Dragusin said: “I’m very happy that we won today. It was a very important to bring the points back for our run to the end of the season. We’re very happy we can win this important game and also to continue our good run.

“I felt good, had a good rhythm and I’m looking forward to many more games. We are on our way, we want to play our football. I feel very good here. I’m really happy and looking forward. I’ve settled well, especially the people at the club, they’ve welcomed me very good and I already feel at home here.”

It was a great performance from Dragusin on Sunday, and he showed just how capable he can be stepping into the team. He should get another run out in the next game at least, while van de Ven recovers, and hopefully he can prove his worth again.
