‘I am convinced’ – Destiny Udogie makes Spurs transfer admission

Destiny Udogie has admitted that he is ‘very happy’ to be joining Tottenham Hotspur and is looking forward to working with Antonio Conte in the future.

Udogie hit the limelight with his impressive displays in Serie A last season, with the left-wing back notching up eight goal contributions over the course of 2021/22 (Transfermarkt).

Fabrizio Romano revealed last week that the 19-year-old is expected to put pen to paper on a five-year deal with Tottenham before returning to Udinese on loan for the season.

According to Romano, Spurs have agreed to pay a fee of €20m (£16.8m) for the Italy Under-21 international.

The Evening Standard reported that the Udinese star stayed at Hotspur Way on Sunday night and is expected to complete a medical today before sealing his move to Tottenham.

Udogie has now confirmed that he will be signing for Spurs and will then spend the season back on loan at Stadio Friuli.

The wing-back told TuttoMercatoWeb: “I’m very happy. It’s a good feeling to go to the Premier League, work with Conte, and sign with Tottenham.

“I am convinced that with Mr Conte I will be able to grow further. For now, however, it is also important to return on loan to Udine, I want to have a good season.”

Udogie has a very similar profile to Spence as he seems to excel in one vs one situation both defensively and going forward. Like Spence, the Italian is still raw but Conte will believe that the teenager could be moulded into a top-class wing-back.
