‘I am expecting a hat-trick’ – Chris Sutton predicts score for Spurs vs Nottingham Forest

Chris Sutton has backed Tottenham Hotspur to demolish Nottingham Forest on Sunday and has predicted that Son Heung-min will net a hattrick.

We are now at the business end of the season, with each game having a lot riding on it as the race for fourth spot looks set to go right down to the wire.

Tottenham have an extremely challenging end to the campaign as they have to face all three of the title contenders while also having to make trips to St James’ Park and Stamford Bridge.

Ange Postecoglou’s men will thus look at Sunday’s encounter as a must-win game to keep up the pressure on Aston Villa.

Forest will not make things easy for Spurs as they are battling for their Premier League status and they come into the game high on confidence after a morale-boosting 3-1 win over Fulham.

There is also the added subplot of Nuno Espirito Santo returning to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for the first time since being sacked by Spurs two and a half years ago.

Hat-trick for Son against Nottingham Forest?

However, Sutton believes that Nuno’s former employers will pile even more misery on the Portuguese coach, backing the home side to emerge 4-1 winners.

The pundit told BBC Sport: “Nottingham Forest’s win over Fulham on Tuesday was massive for them and a point here would be really important too. I don’t see it happening, though.

“Nuno Espirito Santo did not have much to celebrate during his brief spell as Spurs boss in 2021, and I can’t see him having much reason to smile on his return to the club.

“Like I do most weeks, I am backing Tottenham to click here. I am going to make Son Heung-min captain of my Fantasy team this weekend because I am expecting a hat-trick from him and a big win for Spurs.

“I get the feeling some people are looking at Tottenham and wondering if they have lost a bit of the fizz they had earlier in the season, but I disagree. They are not on an amazing run of form at the moment but I still think they have had a great first campaign under Ange Postecoglou.

“He is all about performances and progress and I don’t think anyone can deny they have made progress, despite losing Harry Kane to Bayern Munich just before the season started.”

Prediction: 4-1

Spurs Web Opinion

Tottenham have made it a habit of delivering lacklustre performances in the first-half and that is something Postecoglou will want to see change. He will demand that the Spurs players start on the front foot and put Forest under pressure right from kick-off.
