VfL Wolfsburg’s Maxence Lacroix has admitted that he is delighted to see his former centre-back partner Micky van de Ven thriving at Tottenham Hotspur.
Van de Ven spent two years at Wolfsburg and the Dutchman built a formidable partnership at the back with Lacroix last season.
The 22-year-old’s impressive displays at the Volkswagen Arena convinced Tottenham to part ways with £43m to bring him to the club last summer and he has hardly put a foot wrong in his first season in the Premier League.
The Netherlands international possesses the calmness and composure one would expect of someone with a lot more experience under his belt, with some pundits even naming him as the signing of the season so far (Optus Sport).
Van de Ven’s outstanding attribute is clearly his electric pace, with the centre-back recently clocking in at 37.38 km/h, which is the highest number ever posted since they began recording the stat a few years ago (Sky Sports).
Lacroix is proud of Tottenham’s Micky Van de Ven
Lacroix himself is pretty rapid, having previously been clocked at 36.13 km/h in the Bundesliga and the Frenchman is not surprised by how well his former teammate is doing at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The success of Van de Ven and a couple of others in the Premier League might convince more English clubs to look towards the Bundesliga for centre-back targets. It might not be too long before Lacroix himself joins his former teammate on these shores.
