‘I am really proud to be Tottenham manager’ – Conte on fighting to the end

Antonio Conte has admitted that he is proud to be the current manager of Tottenham Hotspur and believes the Lilywhites are an ‘important’ club to work for.

These comments came after Spurs finally recorded a much-needed Premier League win this week, defeating Fulham 1-0 at Craven Cottage after losing key matches against Arsenal and Man City.

With Newcastle drawing and Man United losing to the Gunners, all three points in their latest London Derby proved vital for Spurs as they closed the gap a little in the race for the top four.

Conte admitted that he is very proud of being in charge of a club like Tottenham and is continuing to work hard with his players, even adding that he cannot ask anything more from them in terms of effort.

The Spurs boss wants to see his stars fight until the end and believes the 1-0 win over Fulham is a good starting point for that journey.

He told Sky Sports (22:15 onwards 23/01/23 – via Reuters): “I am really proud to be Tottenham manager. I had the possibility of being the manager of an important club, it makes me proud and this has to be clear to everybody.

“For this reason, I want to fight until the end with my players. We are a team that works a lot and under this aspect, I can’t tell anything about my players.

“I spoke with my players and I have good players, but especially good men. They understand we have to fight until the end for the important positions, we have to be ready to suffer.”

He added: “I had a good answer from my players. I asked them for solidity of the last season and the will and desire to fight and to be resilient.

“Today has to be a starting point for us to give everything then we will see what happens at the end. We have to try to stay in the race for the Champions League and try to go to the next round in the FA Cup.”

Spurs Web Opinion:

If you do not have the quality of players you want, you have to at least make them a strong team that is hard to beat. Spurs are going to make mistakes at the back because Conte likely hasn’t got the players he wants yet, but it’s about banding together and fighting until the end, just as he says.
