Mauricio Pochettino provides update on his future at Tottenham

Much has been written about Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino this season, with the future of the young manager thrown into doubt by many across the footballing world.

After positions at both Real Madrid and Manchester United became vacant through the season, Pochettino was always mentioned as a possible suitor.

However, Real Madrid ended up re-appointing Zinedine Zidane after 10 months away from the club, and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s amazing form in Manchester will surely see him get the job full time.

This seems to have killed off the majority of the rumours surrounding Pochettino’s future, however he was always unlikely to give up the chance to play a full season in the new stadium.

The Argentine manager has now come out to assure fans that he is happy at Spurs, while implying that he intends to see out his four year contract.

He also claimed that he is different to 99% of other managers out there.

Poch said (Metro): “I am very happy at Tottenham. I have four more years on my contract. Maybe 99 percent of my colleagues have a different mindset.

“I enjoy it day by day and whatever happens tomorrow will be a consequence of today. But I don’t look at things too far ahead or think very long term. When I signed my contract I did it because I was happy.

“Nobody thought that Tottenham would be in the fight to win titles this year, following the investment made by other clubs to enhance the quality of their teams. Clubs that are in need of winning titles.

“Tottenham are different. But despite everything we are still here in the fight, because of our own merit. We hope to finish well this year.”
