‘I can’t believe’ – Spurs legend issues Conte warning to club hierarchy

Graham Roberts has insisted that Tottenham could be in a desperate position in the summer should Antonio Conte decide to walk away from the club.

Conte has certainly made it clear on multiple occasions during his four months at Spurs that there is a significant gap in terms of quality between the North Londoners’ squad and the best teams in the Premier League (Football365).

However, the Italian has also said that he is now starting to see an improvement from his players, both from a tactical and mentality point of view (Sky Sports).

Reports continue to insist that Conte will walk away in the summer if he is not sufficiently backed in the transfer market, with a potential Mauricio Pochettino return to Tottenham being mooted as a possibility (Football Insider).

Roberts believes Tottenham cannot afford to let the Italian walk away at the end of the season and urged the club to sign the players he wants when the transfer window reopens.

The legendry Spurs defender told GiveMeSport: “I think they (Tottenham) have to buy players, they have to spend money.

“But I can’t believe that we have signed a manager, given him an 18-month contract but we’ve actually signed him for six months and he walks away. I don’t know where the club will be after that.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Spurs fans should stop worrying about the possibility of Conte walking away in the summer. It is clear that the 52-year-old has the backing of Fabio Paratici and the Tottenham board and I fully expect us to spend big on new recruits this summer.
