“I can’t speak highly enough of him” – Harry Winks heaps praise on Spurs team-mate

Tottenham have failed to have a single player in the last two transfer windows despite the squad being short of numbers in several areas.

One of these areas is central midfield, where in addition to not adding players, Spurs also allowed an important player in Mousa Dembele to leave in January.

Additionally, both Eric Dier and Victor Wanyama have had to spend a large portion of the season on the sidelines due to injury.

This has meant that Mauricio Pochettino had no choice but to go with a central midfield pairing of Harry Winks and Moussa Sissoko for most of Tottenham’s games this season.

Sissoko, who was somewhat of a laughing stock among Spurs fans until the beginning of the campaign has completely turned his Tottenham career around and has repaid the faith that manager showed in him.

His midfield partner Harry Winks was full of praise for the way the 29-year-old transformed his fortunes in North London.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Winks said, “I can’t speak highly enough of him.

“Moussa’s story is incredible really. It’s fair to say the first two seasons didn’t go the way he wanted them to, he had a lot of lows, but you can take inspiration from what he’s done this season. He never stopped believing in himself and working hard to get to where he is today.

“He’s reaping the rewards of his hard work and that’s why everyone loves him and thinks so highly of him.”

The England international further revealed that the Frenchman is quite a popular figure in the Spurs dressing room.

He added, “He’s a great person as well as a great a player. His character around the dressing room is just as important as his ability and his influence on the pitch.

“He’s a top, top guy and everyone is so happy for the season he has had.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Even the most optimistic of Spurs fans wouldn’t have believed you if you had told them at the start of the season that Sissoko will become one of the team’s most important players.

The Frenchman has consistently put in top performances this season, proving that it is not merely a purple patch that he is experiencing.

The way the midfielder has proved fans completely wrong should be enough to make fans think twice before deeming a player “not good enough” from now on.
