‘I could have bet’ – Kylian Mbappe’s funny response to Spurs star’s Instagram post

Kylian Mbappe has poked fun at Tanguy Ndombele after the Tottenham midfielder posted a compilation video of his individual highlights against Rennes on social media.

Ndombele appeared to be on his way out during the summer transfer window after the midfielder had allegedly informed Nuno Espirito Santo of his desire to leave.

However, Tottenham were not able to move the Frenchman on before the window closed and sources have indicated that the 24-year-old is now ready to fight for his place in the starting eleven after holding positive talks with Nuno.

The midfielder was handed his first start of the season against Rennes in the Europa Conference League and was arguably Tottenham’s best player on the night as the North Londoners came away with a hard-fought 2-2 draw.

Ndombele subsequently took to Instagram to post a video of the tricks and flicks he pulled off against the Ligue 1 side, along with the caption: “Happy to be back in the starting XI. Since April. We keep going to work.”

It looks like his French international teammate, Mbappe, was certainly not surprised to see the Tottenham man post such a video.

The PSG striker responded with the comment: “I could have bet there was going to be a compilation… You like it too much.”

Spurs Web Opinion

It is not surprising that Ndombele seems to be a fan of posting video compilations. It is evident from his style of play that he is a free spirit, who enjoys pulling off little tricks more than he does playing a killer pass (although he does have that in his locker too).

I have to admit that I was a little concerned when the midfielder flicked the ball over a Rennes player’s heads twice in Tottenham’s own defensive third on Thursday.

While Ndombele does not seem like an ideal fit for Nuno, who seems to favour substance over style, the 24-year-old is arguably the only press-resistant midfielder we have in our squad. So, I am hoping he forces himself into the starting eleven over the coming weeks.
