‘I couldn’t do it’ – Former Arsenal player asked whether he would join Spurs

Jack Wilshere has said that he would not join Tottenham as a courtesy to Arsenal fans but would consider the move if he was to be paid £1 million per week.

The 29-year-old is a free agent and has been in search of a new club since the summer after departing Bournemouth at the end of the 2020/21 campaign.

The former England international is currently training with Arsenal to maintain his fitness during his quest to find potential suitors.

His training regime with the Gunners will come to a conclusion at the end of January, where it is hoped that he would have found a new club by that point.

Wilshere was talking about his situation on talkSPORT (October 21, 5:11pm), where he was jokingly pressed about signing for North London rivals Tottenham.

The midfielder quickly turned down that suggestion, but hinted that he would only cross the divide if Spurs offered to pay him £1 million per week to play for them.

“Of course, I would for £1 million a week,” Wilshere responded when asked if he would join Spurs.

“I couldn’t do it to the Arsenal fans.”

Anyone would play for their rivals if they were offered such a big weekly wage. It is only a joke at the end of the day, but there is more of a chance that pigs will fly than Spurs offering a contract to a player like Wilshere, who has publicly showed his hate for the club.
