“I don’t know” – Manager unsure if Spurs-linked forward will still be at club next season

Juventus manager Max Allegri has delivered an update on the future of rumoured Tottenham target Paulo Dybala.

The Argentine international is out of contract at the Allianz Stadium at the end of the current campaign and is yet to sign a new deal.

Dybala returned to action for the Old Lady following injury in yesterday’s 2-0 win against Salernitana and found the back of the net with just five minutes on the clock after he beat Luigi Sepe at his near post (transfermarkt).

The forward was reported to have clashed with Allegri over the Bianconeri’s training schedule in the build-up to the fixture earilier in the week (Gazzetta dello Sport).

Sport claimed last month that Tottenham had emerged as frontrunners to land the forward at the end of the season.

Allegri was quizzed about the future of the 28-year-old and admitted he did not know if he would still be at the club next season.

“The rapport with Paulo and all the players is good. There are some exchanges of opinion, I am always rather direct, but I am like this for the good of the players, who know they have my faith and admiration,” Allegri told DAZN.

“Paulo arrived as a kid from Palermo, he has become a great player. There’s no problem.

“I don’t know if he will be a Juventus player or not, that is a matter for the club. We often talk with the club, it’s not just Paulo whose contract is running down, but also Bernardeschi, De Sciglio, Perin and Cuadrado.

“My job is to do well in these final weeks of the season. I can evaluate players, but when it comes to contracts, what the players want, these are other elements.”

Fans will be hoping that Fabio Paratici will be dusting off his black book and contacting Dybala to encourage him to make the switch to north London in the summer. Whether Tottenham could actually afford his wages considering he would be potentially moving on a free transfer could pose to be an issue compared to what other top European clubs are prepared to pay their players.
