“I don’t know why he’s not signing a contract at Tottenham” – Former pro is puzzled at player’s situation

Tottenham Hotspur have not yet been able to get Christian Eriksen to sign a new deal with the club.

The Dane’s current contract comes to an end in the summer of 2020, and there seems to be no progress in negotiations at the moment.

If the midfielder doesn’t sign a new contract with the club before the end of the current season, Spurs could be forced to sell or risk him walking away for free in a year’s time.

The 27-year-old has primarily been linked with moves to Real Madrid and Barcelona, and there has even been speculation of a possible swap deal with Madrid which would see Gareth Bale moving the other way. (The Mirror)

Former Birmingham City striker Clinton Morrison has said that he is puzzled by the fact that Eriksen hasn’t extended his contract with Spurs, as the Dane seems to have a good relationship with manager Mauricio Pochettino.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Morrison said, “I think he’s been excellent, and it would be hard to replace him.

“I don’t know why he’s not signing a contract at Tottenham, he’s been outstanding and I thought he had a good relationship with Pochettino.

“But if they lose him, that’s a massive blow because he’s been tremendous.”
