‘I don’t think he wants to disappoint the fans’ – Son makes Bale admission

Heung-min Son has admitted his excitement at the prospect of playing with Gareth Bale and has insisted that the Welshman is working hard to ensure that he does not fall short of expectations.

Spurs fans were pinching themselves when Bale came on against West Ham with little over twenty minutes to go as the excitement about his impending return had built up throughout the international break.

However, his second debut for the club could not have gone much worse as Spurs somehow managed to throw away a three-goal lead in the final ten minutes, with the winger missing a great chance to put the game to bed while 3-0 up.

Despite Bale’s first game back being one to forget, it has been suggested the Real Madrid loaned is well settled at Spurs and has hit it off with many of his new teammates (Guardian).

Reports indicate that his team-mates and coaching staff have been impressed with his efforts in training, and Son has now admitted that is indeed the case.

Speaking ahead of Tottenham’s London derby on Sunday, Son told Football.London about Bale’s return: “I’m so excited. To see him every day, to chat to him, it’s a really good experience for me and I think the fans can’t wait to see him back on the pitch.

“As a player, I can’t wait to play alongside him. Obviously, he is a legend for this club and a superstar in the football world. I think he is very happy and you can see straight away that he is smiling all the time.

“When I’ve seen him, he’s been working hard. I don’t think he wants to disappoint the fans or his teammates so he’s working really hard.

“When he had his first training session with the group, I was doing other work, but I was watching him and even that was really enjoyable.

“Having seen him in training, I can’t wait to see him back out there. I’m really excited to play with him.”
