Cristian Romero’s father has shared what it will take for his son to be prised away from Tottenham Hotspur this summer.
Romero’s long-term future at Tottenham is in doubt ahead of the summer, with the Spurs captain attracting interest from many clubs around Europe.
Some sources have suggested that Cristian Romero’s contract at Spurs has a £52m release clause, which can be activated by three clubs this summer: Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid.
Others, such as Fabrizio Romano, have said that Romero’s contract has no such release clause, and the defender only had a gentleman’s agreement with Daniel Levy that he can leave for the previously mentioned figure.

Whether the 27-year-old’s deal contains a release clause or not, some believe that Romero will leave Tottenham this summer even if the club stay in the Premier League.
His father, Victor Romero, has now revealed that Spurs will consider letting the former Juventus man leave as long as they recoup the money they paid for him.
When asked about the speculation over his son’s future, Victor told Cadena 3: “He has two more years on his contract with Tottenham and a very high release clause. The English club isn’t going to let him go for free; it’s between $50-$70m [£37.8m-£53m]. For me, they’ll want to recover what they invested.”
Romero’s father would love a Club Atletico Belgrano return
Strangely, there are even rumours doing the rounds in Argentina that the Tottenham defender could return to his boyhood club, Club Atletico Belgrano, where he came through the ranks.
Victor has now said that he would love to see his son return home, but admitted that he does not know where those rumours are coming from.
When asked about the speculation linking Romero with the Cordoba club, his father said: “It’s a bombshell that keeps getting bigger. I hope it’s true; as a Belgrano fan and a father, what more could I want, but I don’t know anything.l Cuti isn’t one to make statements, that’s why it surprises me.
“I don’t know anything, but in football, anything can happen. Today, you might be thinking about being close to your family, and tomorrow, they put together a team to win the championship, and everything changes. I don’t want to lie.”
