Tottenham Hotspur face the reality of missing out on Champions League football for a second successive season.
After topping the Premier League table at the start of December and having fallen from grace spectacularly under Jose Mourinho, the club also suffered a surprise exit in the Europa League which could have granted them a pathway back into European football’s most prestigious club competition.
After losing the Carabao Cup final on Sunday in a disappointing display against Manchester City, Tottenham’s thirteen year wait for a piece of competitive silverware continues which has seen Harry Kane admit that he wants to win team trophies with Sky Sports claiming that he will ask to leave if they fail to qualify for the Champions League.
While there is uncertainty over Kane’s future, journalist Jack Pitt-Brooke has said that he still expects Heung-Min Son to sign a new contract.
Pitt-Brooke told the Ornstein and Chapman podcast.: “I still think that will happen [Son signing a new deal]. Even though it hasn’t happened yet. I did a story in October saying the deal was very close.
“Obviously it has been held up for months and months and months.
“I expect it’ll happen and I can’t see Tottenham selling him.”
