Heung-min Son insists he is committed to Tottenham

Son is coming off the back of a great first season as Spurs captain, showcasing his strong leadership skills while also providing a huge 17 goals and ten assists in the 2023/24 campaign (Transfermarkt).

Many Spurs fans are excited at the prospect of the South Korean returning to a wide left position next season, especially if Tottenham sign a new star striker.

As Ange Postecoglou‘s main man, it seems unthinkable to be left wondering about what the future holds for Son. And yet, with a little over a year left on his current contract, the rumour mill is turning.

Son is not interested in leaving the Premier League

Reports have suggested Son could be a target for former Spurs boss, Jose Mourinho, at Fenerbahce of late. In a piece by The Mirror, Son has outright refuted this speculation, and committed his allegiance to Tottenham.

“I have not had any exchanges with the club,” Son said after his recent international outing for South Korea.

“I don’t have anything to say at this point.

“I feel a little uncomfortable with the situation. I am going to keep doing my best for Tottenham. I still have terms left on my contract.”

He added: “Money is not important to me. The most important thing is to play in a league that I enjoy playing in. I have so much more I want to accomplish in the Premier League.”

Spurs Web Opinion

There is no way Son is going anywhere anytime soon, and the idea of him moving to Turkey when he’s at the kind of level he is at, is just ridiculous.

That said, we do need to get that contract tied up soon, and hopefully it’s near the top of the to-do list for Spurs this summer.

The club also need to look at bringing in another centre forward this summer who is used to leading the line.

While Son did a decent job playing through the middle, he looks far more comfortable in his familiar role on the left of the front three.
