‘I feel good again’ – Tottenham star has finally turned a corner with his fitness

Rodrigo Bentancur has now provided an update on his broken toe, insisting that it is not an issue that is bothering him too much while playing.

Bentancur will be eager to play as much as possible, having missed a lot of football over the last year.

The midfielder was out of action for nearly a year, first picking up an ACL injury back in February of last year before injuring his ankle in his first game back in action against Aston Villa back in November.

The 26-year-old has now been getting regular minutes under his belt for club and country over the last couple of months and he is still working his way up to the form he showed prior to his ACL injury.

During last week’s international break, the midfielder revealed that he had been playing with a broken toe, explaining that he had picked up the injury during the win over Crystal Palace (ESPN).

However, Ange Postecoglou brushed aside any concerns about the broken toe in his press conference on Friday, joking that the player had nine others he could use (Football London).

Bentancur is feeling healthy again at Spurs

Bentancur himself has now insisted that the break is not anything to worry about, revealing that he did not want to stop playing, given all the football he has missed recently.

The Tottenham man told ESPN: “After so many injuries, I feel good again. Now I broke my toe in training before the game against Crystal Palace, I’ve been playing with a broken toe for three weeks now, but it was either that or stop and I didn’t want to keep stopping after so many injuries.

“I was allowed to play with a broken toe, there was no problem because it was a small part of the top, it wasn’t even the fifth, which would have been serious. Now the toe is almost healthy, so it’s fine.”

Even if it is just a small break, it might be affecting Bentancur’s mobility slightly, but one can understand why the 26-year-old is keen to keep playing through it, given all the football he has missed over the last year.
