‘I feel loved’ – Gareth Bale provides insight into his return to Tottenham

Gareth Bale has admitted that he still has some way to go before returning to full fitness but revealed that he is feeling sharper with every single game that he is playing and admits he feels loved at Tottenham.

After getting multiple extended run-outs in the Europa League, Bale made his first Premier League start since his return to Spurs against West Brom just prior to the international break.

The 31-year-old played almost eighty minutes at The Hawthorns and has since completed 90 minutes for Wales in their 1-0 win over the Republic of Ireland on Sunday, bagging the assist for David Brooks’ goal.

Jose Mourinho revealed a couple of weeks ago that the data indicated that the Welshman is nearing full fitness, while Wales interim boss Rob Page also revealed last week that the 31-year-old is fitter than he has seen him in quite some time.

Bale has now opened up on how rejuvenated he feels to be back at a club where he feels wanted but the Real Madrid man admitted that it will take a little longer for him to get back to his sharpest.

Speaking to Wales Online, the Tottenham star said: “It’s nice to be back playing, nice to be at a place where I’m wanted, I feel loved.

“I’m just getting my fitness back and being back playing is what makes every footballer happy.

“I feel like I’m in a good place at the moment, there’s still more to come, more to improve, and I’m looking forward to it.

“It does take a bit of getting used to, the body getting back into rhythm of playing every few days, you get a little bit more stiff than usual, but the more games I’m playing, the better the body is adapting.

“It’s going to take a little bit of time still but I’m on the right path and I’m enjoying playing again.

“I still need to get a little fitter and sharper but I’m getting there. It’s been six weeks since I came back.

“It’s just about building up, it takes a bit of time, especially when you’re a bit older, but I’m just excited to get back to full fitness.

“Hopefully it won’t be too long, and then leading into Euros in the summer, that’s where I want to be peaking.”
