Alejo Veliz is raring to go ahead of the new season and is determined to repay the faith that Espanyol have shown in him.

Alejo Veliz struggled at Sevilla
Veliz would have hoped to prove himself in La Liga when he made the loan move to Sevilla in January but that switch proved to be a disaster for the young striker, who hardly got a look in at the Andalusian side.
The 20-year-old will now look to put that experience behind him after being handed a second bite of the cherry, with newly promoted Espanyol signing him on a season-long loan.
The Argentine will also hope to prove a point to Ange Postecoglou and the Tottenham hierarchy as he looks set to lead the line for the Catalan club during the upcoming season.

Alejo Veliz is ready to make up for lost time
The fact that Veliz has been handed the number nine shirt perhaps serves as confirmation that manager Manolo Gonzalez views the Spurs youngster as his first choice.
Speaking ahead of the new campaign, the former Rosaria Central man told Mundo Deportivo: “Wearing the number ‘9’ doesn’t put pressure on me. It’s a very important number for everything it entails, but I feel ready and eager to get started now.
“Since my agents told me that this possibility existed, I told them to push hard because I wanted to come here. The first thing Manolo told me was that he saw me as a reference striker, hungry and willing to fight, which is what he wants in the team.
“From where I’ve been placed, I’ll try to give it the best of myself.”
Spurs Web Opinion
Tottenham would have undoubtedly sought assurances and perhaps even written conditions into the loan contract regarding the game time Veliz would get at Espanyol following his experience at Sevilla.
Hopefully, the striker is able to make up for lost time and showcase his qualities at the highest level.
