Antonio Conte has opened up on his experiences since joining Tottenham Hotspur, claiming that he found a ‘family’ in North London, adding that the players are ‘good people’ above all else.
The Italian has almost been in the job for a full year now after he replaced Nuno Espirito Santo early on in the 2021/22 season.
In that time, Conte has taken Tottenham from 9th place in the Premier League and the Europa Conference League to a top-four finish and Champions League football. Most would agree that is not bad progress for a matter of months in charge.
Spurs are currently in the midst of a dip in form this season, especially across the last two defeats to Newcastle and Manchester United. However, speaking before the match against the Magpies, Conte talked about his admiration for the current Spurs squad.
He said (Sky Sports’ Football Daily): “To work for a club that is a really modern club. I found a family and I found a group of players that are first of all are good people.
“I’m trying to push them to improve the level and have this big challenge together, like a family.”
Spurs Web Opinion:
I see a man who is willing to commit to a multi-year project with Tottenham. But the board will have to hand him major funding in every single transfer window in order to convince him to stay. If Spurs honestly want to win a title, they need to back a title winner.
