‘I gave my best’ – Lucas Moura bids his final farewell to the Spurs home crowd

Lucas Moura has been speaking to the press after a disappointing result against Brentford this afternoon, and a game which marked his final home appearance for Tottenham Hotspur.

It was a game of two halves at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this afternoon, as the home side dominated the first half before succumbing to a 3-1 defeat to Brentford in the second half.

Harry Kane got Spurs off to a great start with a sublime free-kick, taking his tally for the season to 30 goals (Transfermarkt).

However, Brentford came out flying in the second half, with Bryan Mbuemo turning the game on its head with two goals. Yoane Wissa then finished off the comeback for the away side in the dying embers of the match.

The fixture marked the final time Spurs fans will see Lucas Moura in North London, with the winger set to leave the club on a free transfer this summer.

Chatting to BT Sport (20/05/2023 at 12:00), Moura had this to say about his farewell: “I wanted to win my last game at our stadium, unfortunately it was not possible.

“We played against a very good team and they were better in the second half – they deserved the win.

“It is a difficult time for me, a difficult day because it is always hard to say goodbye, especially when you love your teammates and the place you are.

“This is the life I live and I gave my best every opportunity and I will keep everyone in my heart.”

Lucas Moura has been a loyal servant to the club and provided fans with plenty of great memories over the years.

It’s just a shame that the team couldn’t have got a win in today’s game to provide the Brazilian with a happy occasion to mark his farewell in style.
