‘I get emotional’ – 30-year-old reacts after Spurs’ 6-2 win over Leicester

Tottenham Hotspur forward Heung-min Son was an emotional figure after helping his side to a 6-2 win against Leicester City yesterday evening.

Spurs head coach Antonio Conte decided to relegate the South Korean to the bench for the visit of the Foxes, instead opting to start with a front trio of Harry Kane, Richarlison and Dejan Kulusevski.

Son came off the bench in the 59th minute with the score nervously edged at 3-2 in favour of the north Londoners and scored a remarkable hat-trick to end his goal drought this season.

After the match, the 30-year-old admitted that he was ’emotional’ such was his concern not for himself, but for the supporters and his team mates.

He told Sky Sports: “I get emotional to be honest. I always felt like I disappointed the team and I disappointed the crowd,”

“Even when I don’t score, they were always supporting me. Every time when I play here and our away games. I’m really glad having this amazing support behind me.”

Son’s comments sum up his unselfishness and the fact he is a model professional, who has not thrown his toys out of his pram and answered his critics in the best possible way by scoring a brilliant hat-trick ahead of the international break.
