‘I give my life to my club’ – Spurs star opens up on being misunderstood

Richarlison claims his playful nature should not confuse people into thinking that he does not give 100 per cent to his team’s cause every single game.

With the World Cup just around the corner, the Tottenham striker has given an interview about his love for the Brazilian national team and his reputation for being fun-loving.

The 25-year-old has been Brazil’s first choice number nine over recent months and looks set to lead the line for the Selecao in Qatar.

Richarlison had an injury scare when he came off in the second half of Tottenham’s 3-2 win over Eintracht Frankfurt three weeks ago after going down with a calf problem.

However, Antonio Conte quickly clarified that the injury is not as serious as initially feared and that the forward will be fit to travel to Qatar (Football.London).

Although the former Everton man is yet to return to action, reports indicate that he is guaranteed to be on the plane to Qatar if he is passed fit before the World Cup (O Globo via Sport Witness).

Richarlison is loved in Brazil for his playful nature but the striker has now made it clear that he is fully focused during training and in matches.

When asked about his tendency to be funny, the Tottenham man told Globo: “I’ve been like that since I was a kid, a playful guy, I like to play with people.

“So I think people like it. But of course, we know that many people confuse. That’s why I always say that if I’m in the national team it’s because I honour the shirt.

“I give my life to my club, I do my best every game and I’m not there just to be funny. There’s a time for chatting and there’s a time to work. Because when I’m on the field, you can see me frowning, and I have few laughs. This is my way.”

No one can accuse Richarlison of not giving 100 per cent every single time he puts his shirt on. The Brazilian is extremely unselfish and always looks to put opponents under pressure, both on and off the ball, which is why Conte values him so highly.
