“I had no offer from Tottenham” – Midfielder plays down transfer rumour

Chelsea star Willian has denied that he has agreed to move to Tottenham when his contract with the Blues runs out this summer.

Talks between Willian and Chelsea over a new deal has reportedly hit a dead end and the winger is expected to leave Stamford Bridge following the conclusion of his current contract (Football.London).

There has been plenty of speculation over the last couple of months suggesting that the Brazilian could reunite with Jose Mourinho at Spurs.

Mundo Deportivo first installed Tottenham as the favourites to sign the 31-year-old this summer while beIN SPORTS presenter Richard Keys also claimed that Willian had agreed to join the Lilywhites.

The Chelsea star’s revelation that he would be open to moving to one of their London rivals in an interview with Desimpedidos couple of weeks ago has further fuelled the speculation linking him with the Champions League finalists.

However, Willian himself has now made it clear that nothing has been agreed with Spurs.

In an interview with Brazilian journalist Gustavo Hofman, the winger said: “It is really speculation and sometimes it ends up disturbing the facts a little.

“In this case, the rumours are totally lying, I had no offer from Tottenham, no conversation either and there is nothing in this news.”

Even if Willian has a verbal agreement with Mourinho, he is not going to admit it publicly. However, I am not so confident that Willian to Spurs is a done deal particularly given the growing speculation linking us with a move for Ryan Fraser. I can only see us signing one of the two since we are fairly well stocked in wide areas.
