‘I hate saying it’ – Ex-Man United pundit claims Spurs are ‘best in the league’ in one area

Former Manchester United winger Kieran Richardson has claimed that Tottenham’s front three is better than Liverpool’s on current form.

Harry Kane and Son Heung-min are officially the most potent partnership in Premier League history (talkSPORT) but the addition of Dejan Kulusevski has proved to be quite transformative for the Spurs front line.

Since the turn of the year, Kane and Son have 15 and 13 goal contributions respectively in the Premier League while Kulusevski has also chipped in with three goals and six assists (Squawka).

Tottenham’s front three once again proved the difference against Aston Villa on Saturday, with the home side failing to take their chances in the first half before the Spurs forwards put them to the sword.

Son completed a hattrick at Villa Park while Kulusevski scored the other in the 4-0 win and Kane picked up two assists.

Richardson believes that not even Liverpool’s feared trio of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Diogo Jota can live up to what the Spurs forwards are producing at the moment.

He said on Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE: “I hate saying it. I hate saying but, Tottenham, their front three, best in the league at the moment.

“At this moment in time, best in the league. For form, better than Liverpool, for me. Even though I prefer Liverpool’s. But after Liverpool, their front three is the best.”

What the addition of Kulusevski has done is to ensure that teams cannot simply get away with man-marking Kane. The Swede’s ability to run with the ball and attract players toward him provides more time and space for Kane on the ball to pick out Son’s runs. The trio compliment each other perfectly.
