Nuno Espirito Santo has sent a message of apology to the Tottenham faithful after his side fell to a shocking 3-1 defeat away to Arsenal in the North London Derby.
Thanks to goals from Emile Smith-Rowe, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Bukayo Saka, the Gunners took a 3-0 lead ten minutes before even the half-time whistle had been blown.
Tottenham were second best all over the pitch, showing both defensive frailties and a lack of bite in the final third, despite the likes of Harry Kane and Heung-min Son playing.
Nuno was forced into two changes at half-time, with Oliver Skipp and Emerson Royal coming on for Dele Alli and Japhet Tanganga, while Bryan Gil impressed during a later cameo.
The Spurs head coach has now claimed that the fans deserve a lot better and he can only promise he will try to fix the problems in North London.
He said (Football London): “I have a message of – you are disappointed because today was a special day for all of us. We didn’t achieve the standards that our fans deserve every day. We will try to fix it. The only message I can say by words, after that it is only by work.”
Spurs Web Opinion:
Spurs fans don’t want messages and promises and more talk. They want to see a clear game plan on the pitch, a clear process, as well as effort and desire. That is the very least they deserve and Nuno is now under pressure to show it.
