‘I have just been told’ – Journalist shares what he heard about potential Pochettino return

“I have some principles. I wanted to be coach of the great teams but I want the right project and a club where the people believe in my ideas, my way to play, and this didn’t happen with the managing director.

“It’s what the chairman (Daniel Levy) and the sporting director (Steve Hitchen) asked for: to build a team who can play attractive and offensive football and I was ready for that.

“I cannot be a different way. All my teams will have these intentions. Against the biggest teams, I’m not sending out my teams to defend near their own box.”

Rahman shared what he had been told on the potential recruitment situation in N17: “I have just been told Paratici prefers Paulo Fonseca to Pochettino at the moment if Antonio Conte were to leave Tottenham in the summer. Really interesting days ahead.”

The vast majority of Tottenham fans would not be pleased if Daniel Levy relies on Fabio Paratici to fully call the shots on Conte’s replacement, by appointing Paulo Fonseca who has not really caught the eye during his current role at Lille, who are currently sixth in Ligue 1.

Arguably, there is only one manager who can potentially persuade Harry Kane to remain in north London and that is Mauricio Pochettino, given the history between the pair.

Paratici would obviously not want to bring Pochettino back given the Argentine would likely want significant power in decision making at the club and would conflict with the Italian.

With Paratici’s own future currently in limbo pending the appeal in Italy, Levy has to be wary of dragging his heels on his next appointment which has to go some way to mending the disconnect between the club and fans.
