‘I have to be honest’ – Conte asked if he needs to strengthen in January transfer window

Antonio Conte has claimed that his mind is not yet on January as there is still a long way to go until the transfer window opens again.

The new Spurs head coach was asked during his press conference today whether he needs to strengthen in the transfer market after the injury to Cristian Romero. However, Conte assured that he was still assessing his current players.

The Italian told the press that he wants to evaluate each and every player, presumably so he can decide which areas need investment come January.

Tottenham brought in a load of new faces in the summer, including Fabio Paratici as the new managing director of football. The likes of Cristian Romero, Bryan Gil, Emerson Royal, Pierluigi Gollini, and Pape Matar Sarr were bought.

Oliver Skipp and Ryan Sessegnon also returned from loan spells to take their places within the Spurs first-team set-up.

Conte said (Football London): “I have to be honest in this moment I am not thinking about January because there is still a long way to go, we have many games to play and also I want to make my evaluations about the squad and players.

“Now I am very focused on the present as the present for me is very important. I need to make many evaluations about the whole squad and then we will see what happens.”

Spurs Web Opinion:

I’m sure that Conte has his eye on a few players who he is definitely interested in. However, as he says, he first needs to work out who he wants to keep/sell from the current bunch before he knows what he needs to draft in.
