‘I have to get better’ – Kulusevski is determined to keep improving at Spurs

Dejan Kulusevski has claimed there are still areas of his game he can improve on following his Man of the Match performance in Tottenham’s season opener against Southampton.

Harry Kane and Son Heung-min were not at their best against the Saints on Saturday and it was Kulusevski who stepped up to the occasion.

The Swede was a constant menace for the Southampton backline, making intelligent runs in behind while proving a handful whenever he got on the ball.

As always, the 22-year-old’s decision-making in possession and the execution of his passes on his left foot were inch perfect.

Kulusevski served up Tottenham’s opener on a plate for Ryan Sessegnon with a lovely cross before getting on the scoresheet in the second half with a typical finish into the far corner after opening up his body.

Speaking after the game, Antonio Conte hailed the winger’s impact and insisted that he could be one of the best players in the world in his position if he remains humble and continues to work hard (BBC Sport via Yahoo).

Kulusevski has now vowed to continue working to get better by taking the Italian’s advice on board.

He told SpursPlay following the 4-1 win: “All my goals come from this area, or three or four metres back. I have to keep scoring these but also keep evolving my game and score different goals.

“The players that came in are amazing, I think they will help us a lot and it is very important all 20 players are ready to play.

“For me, I have to grow. I have to get better in every way. I want to become a better football player so I have got to keep listening to my fantastic coach, be humble and keep living my dream.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Kulusevski’s quality is there for all to see but I have been extremely impressed with his attitude and maturity, given his age. He is arguably already one of the best attackers in the Premier League and seems destined to reach the very top of the game over the coming years.
