“I hope my future will now be sorted out by the end of the week”

Dorian Dervite has stated he will leave Tottenham Hotspur if he is not given regular first-team football.

The central defender is behind the likes of Ledley King, Jonathan Woodgate, Michael Dawson and Sebastien Bassong in the pecking order at White Hart Lane and is becoming frustated at the lack of regular football.

The 21-year-old has claimed there is interest in his services from France, Spain and Holland.

“I just want to play,” the France U21 international told L’Equipe.

“At Tottenham I played in one Carling Cup match (against Port Vale in 2006) and then I injured my knee. Everything then became very complex.

“At the moment I am among the youngest players looking to break into the first team. But there are a lot of good defenders at the club. I am working hard but it doesn’t seem to be enough.

“At the end of last season I met with the chairman (Daniel Levy) and he told me to be patient and wait for my opportunity. I believed that would happen soon.

“However, coach Harry Redknapp has been very frank with me. He wants results and so has to use experienced players. I am not in that category, but without playing I will not get experience! It is a vicious circle.

“I hope my future will now be sorted out by the end of the week, or early next week.

“The problem is, in Ligue 1 I am no-one. I had contact with Montpellier and Lens, but Spurs refused to let me talk.

“Now Villarreal and Ajax are keen, even if their interest is a bit vague at the moment.

“I am not asking for much, I just want to play. I need to find a coach willing to trust young players. I want to settle down now and really start my career.”

  1. Fair enough comments! Unfortunately at this moment in time he is not good enough for the premiership and won’t be so until he plays more. He made two dreadful mistakes against Celtic recently and perhaps that has put the final nail in this young man’s coffin? If he is impatient to play regularly(he is only 21) he has to go. I would suggest he knuckles down, improves his awareness by a loan season somewhere (Hull? Burnley?)and if that is successful maybe next season he can make a break through with us?

  2. was rave reviews from southend last season but does need to go out on loan and test him self in prem if poss.. Agreed he is not good enough for us right now, going to be bit off pressure as always to start well

  3. Rave reviews in the third tier of English football is hardly going to get him into the first team. Against a second rate Celtic he looked way short of being premier league class. Spurs do have a problem with bringing defenders through the ranks, and perhaps the academy need to work harder in this area. Looks like Harry will need to dip in and get a good young potential for the future or an old head to tide us over. With Woodgate out for some time we do look rather flimsy in this area and you nver know if King will have another breakdown .
