‘I hope Spurs do well’ – PL manager responds to reports he could replace Conte

Thomas Frank has distanced himself from the Tottenham job by stating that he is ‘very happy’ at the Brentford Community Stadium.

If there was any doubt at all that Antonio Conte’s project at Spurs was about to come to an end sooner rather than later, that was seemingly settled after Tottenham produced another poor display against AC Milan on Wednesday and were knocked out of the Champions League.

Reports over recent days indicate that while Spurs have no ‘immediate plans’ to sack Conte before the end of the season, a search for the Italian’s replacement is well underway (Daily Mail).

The Athletic revealed on Tuesday that Frank is one of four Premier League managers on Tottenham’s shortlist, alongside Brighton’s Roberto De Zerbi, Nottingham Forests’ Steve Cooper and Fulham’s Marco Silva.

The publication explained that the Danish coach’s work at Brentford has ‘not gone unnoticed’ by the Spurs hierarchy.

However, Frank has now played down the speculation by insisting that he is happy at the West London club.

When asked about replacing Conte at Spurs, he told 90 min: “First, they have a manager, which is a manager I’ve studied for years and I admire massively.

“I think he’s achieved some fantastic results, I hope he will do well, I hope Spurs do well.

“And secondly, I am very, very happy here at Brentford.”

I do not think there is any doubt that Frank would be interested in Tottenham make an approach for him.

However, I am sceptical if the Dane will be the right fit for Spurs.

If the club hierarchy are hesitant to reappoint Pochettino and are looking for a manager within the Premier League, then I believe they should do everything they can to persuade De Zerbi to take the job.
