‘I just can’t see that’ – Liverpool legend rules Spurs out from Premier League title race

Jamie Carragher has claimed that it will once again be a two-horse race for the Premier League title between Manchester City and Liverpool this season.

Tottenham temporarily went top of the table with a win against West Brom this afternoon, albeit by narrow margins thanks to a late Kane header.

Both Man City and Liverpool seem to be recapturing some form after a slow start to the season.

Carragher claimed that, despite the strong start that Spurs have made, he cannot see the North Londoners keeping pace with either City or Liverpool over the course of the campaign.

Tottenham face Man City when they return to Premier League action after the international break, giving them a real chance to lay down a marker for the season to come.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the former Liverpool central defender said: “I still can’t envisage anyone besides Liverpool or Man City winning the league. I just can’t see that.

“I know Tottenham have started really well and I hope they have a great season and there are more challengers, but I just can’t see anybody else lifting that league title besides the big two of the last few years.”
