‘I know he loves London’ – Pundit believes former teammate would pick Spurs over Everton

Kevin Phillips believes that Wilfried Zaha is likely to hold out for a move to Tottenham Hotspur or Arsenal this summer.

Zaha’s name has been subject to plenty of speculation over the last few years but the winger has stayed put at Selhurst Park.

However, there have been suggestions that Palace might be ready to cash in on the winger this summer, with Tottenham being proposed as a potential destination for the Ivory Coast international (talkSPORT).

Meanwhile, Everton are also reportedly keen on signing the 27-year-old this summer.

Phillips, who played alongside Zaha for the Eagles during the 2012-13 season before the winger departed to join Manchester United, insisted that the Palace star is good enough for any team in the league.

While he claimed that Zaha will improve Carlo Ancelotti’s side, he insisted that the winger is likely to hold out for Spurs or Arsenal ahead of the Toffees.

When asked about the speculation surrounding Zaha’s future, the former Premier League golden boot winner told Football Insider: “He could do the job at most clubs.

“Having played with him and knowing him, leaving for Manchester United was probably too soon but now he’s developed and he’s got a lot of Premier League experience under his belt.

“He’s showed that he’s become a consistent performer and his end product has got a lot better.

“It looks like Everton are a team that really want to push on and secure those European positions next season and if they secure the types of Zaha that’s certainly going to help you.

“Personally I think he thinks he could probably go to Arsenal or Tottenham and it wouldn’t surprise me if he was holding out for that because I know he loves London.

“I would imagine he’d rather go there than Everton but if he were to go to Everton he would improve them.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Zaha has been priced out of the market by Crystal Palace over the past few summers but reports indicate that his asking price is likely to have come down considerably this summer.

I suspect that he will end up joining Everton as the Ivorian does not really seem to be near the top of Mourinho’s wish list, if recent reports are to be believed.
