‘I know his abilities’ – Tammy Abraham predicts how Conte will do at Spurs

Roma striker Tammy Abraham has backed Antonio Conte to be a success at Tottenham and hopes to come across the Italian in the Europa Conference League final.

Tottenham confirmed the appointment of Conte on Tuesday just one day after the sacking on Nuno Espirito Santo.

It signalled the second approach from Spurs for the 52-year-old, after failing to strike an agreement with him to replace Jose Mourinho in the summer.

Abraham, who enjoyed some time under Conte during their time together at Chelsea, has been the latest player to comment on his return to the Premier League, and expects him to help Spurs ‘grow a lot’.

The 24-year-old held Conte in high esteem, but made sure to praise former Spurs and current Roma boss Jose Mourinho in conjunction.

He told Sky Sport in Italy: “I had the pleasure of being coached by Conte, I know his abilities. I’m sure he will make Tottenham grow a lot, but we too have a great coach from whom we are learning a lot, every day.

“If the teams [Roma and Spurs] do well it would be nice to find ourselves in the final, but we have to concentrate on the match against Bodo and try to get through the group stage.”

Spurs seem to be receiving plenty of praise for the coup of Conte, which shows they are showing ambition by hiring a manager of his calibre. They need to take advantage of him being here, though, as it is not often you get someone of his quality manning the dugout.
