Jamie Redknapp has accused Jose Mourinho of slyly criticising Gareth Bale in his post-match interview following the 1-0 loss at Brighton.

The Welshman was handed a rare start by Mourinho and he failed to make any sort of positive impact on the encounter at The Amex.

Bale was replaced in the 61st minute of the match when Mourinho decided to bring on Lucas Moura.

Redknapp believes that Mourinho’s comments about an improvement in performance during the last half hour of the match were aimed in the direction of the Spurs loanee

The former captain claimed that there are too many things which he does not like when he looks at the current Tottenham team, including Mourinho’s mannerisms which are not a good sign in the eyes of Redknapp.

Have something to tell us about this article?

  1. We were all hoping we could relive the dream with the greatest home grown player to play in the Premier League. We have been patient, more so than if he had been at any other club.
The fear factor has gone, no more mesmerizing runs, unable to beat a player, and goalkeepers no longer quake in their boots
In fact it appears we are paying for the privilege to try and get him fit.
I fear for the barrage he will receive in Spain when he returns. My advice would be to stay as long as you can to get those obscene wages. Thanks for the great memories but go now. It has not worked out and we need to remember you as you were…Best Wishes
