“I like his way” – Spurs star praises Arsenal boss ahead of North London derby

Eric Dier has claimed that Mikel Arteta is the most exciting young manager in world football ahead of the showdown against his Arsenal side this Sunday.

There was plenty of optimism about Arteta and how far he could take Arsenal after he guided them to an FA Cup win in his first season in charge.

The Gunners also appeared to have tightened up at the back at the start of this campaign and the Spaniard seemed to have laid the building blocks on which to build upon.

However, it all seems to have come crashing down over the last few weeks as Arsenal have won just once in their last six games, losing three consecutive games at home against Leicester, Aston Villa and Wolves.

Not only have the Gunners not scored in open play in those six matches, but they have also started leaking goals at the back.

The pressure seems to be mounting on Arteta ahead of this Sunday’s North London derby, with some Arsenal fans already calling for his head.

However, Dier claimed that he has been impressed by what he has seen from Pep Guardiola’s former assistant.

The Tottenham defender told Sky Sports: “They (Arsenal) are going through a difficult period but these games it doesn’t really matter who is where in the table.

“We know how much of a difficult game it is going to be. The position in the table is irrelevant. It’s early on in the season for both teams.

“They have a lot of quality in their team. They have a very exciting young manager. The most exciting young manager in Europe for sure. I like his way, the way it seems to be. I think they are in good hands.

“We know they have a lot of quality in their squad and we will be very aware of that on Sunday.”
