‘I liked very much’ – Jose Mourinho reacts to Dele Alli’s performance in the FA Cup

Tottenham Hotspur head coach, Jose Mourinho was left impressed by Dele Alli this evening in the FA Cup match against Marine FC.

Dele started the game as the main creative force in the side, with Moussa Sissoko and Harvey White sitting behind him in midfield.

It didn’t take the Tottenham talisman long to unlock the Marine defence as he played a one-two with Gedson Fernandes and curled the ball in behind for Vinicius to tap home.

Dele then played a chipped ball in behind to set up Matt Doherty for a glorious chance later in the half, with Vinicius once again tapping home the rebound.

While Alli didn’t seem too keen to pull the trigger himself against the non-league side, he was determined to create chances for his fellow Lilywhites.

Jose Mourinho told the press in his post-match interview that he was pleased with both Dele Alli and Gedson Fernandes for their creativity and dynamic play.

He said (Football London): “I liked [Dele] very much. He and Gedson were responsible for our dynamic from the first minutes. Creating for us and causing problems for them and goals for us. Of course, our creative players were a bit worried about the pitch.”
